  I rent almost weekly in San Diego. National cars are always clean and in good shape. Car selection is usually good. Getting checked out can take time (sometimes too many cars for too few checkout lanes) but efficient once at the station. Checking back in is usually pretty easy. Only trouble I ever had was when I had a flat tire - I used AAA to change the tire because National was going to take forever. Then I had to drive to a National location to change cars (to get a real set of tires). I received a notice of a claim for damage which isn't supposed to happen with a tire and no one ever followed up with me.
